My platform is very comprehensive, but my essential agenda is broken down into 6 key areas (President Obama has six lessons from his 2017 Farewell Address and Dr. King has six lessons for nonviolence):
1. Affordability: The construction of affordable housing and raising the minimum wage to a living wage of $20/hr.
· Compensating childcare, pre-existing health conditions, and parental leave.
· Support a cross coalition with the Poor People’s Campaign and the Nonviolent Medicaid Army (NVMA) to unite the working class, foster independent organizing by poor and dispossessed people and establish healthcare as a right not a privilege.
2. Creation of a Department of Safety: The police can’t handle all crises; there must be a contingent of medically trained professionals to handle mental health crises and social workers to address rampant homelessness especially in our primarily urban community of minorities and veterans.
3. Restorative Justice: Reparations for the nearly 50% African American community that live in District 4 as well as the expansion of educational opportunities for prisoners and increase in payment and living conditions for incarcerated labor. (Elimination of unpaid labor).
4. Getting Money out of politics: Campaign finance reform through the abolishment of the disastrous Citizen United Decision that made campaign contributions free speech and curtailment of government lobbying. Ranked choice voting and open primaries.
Support the nation wide implementation of the John Lewis Voting Rights Act to prevent race based discrimination in voting and to promote free and fair elections.
5. Abolition mindset: --The abolishment of Immigration Customs and Enforcement (ICE), free public university tuition, the elimination of student debt, and the teaching of black and brown history.
6. Economic empowerment for the 99%: Jai Kisan, Jai Jawan (Hail Farmers, Hail Soldiers) and Hail Workers
· Help to stop suicide, homelessness, and bullying especially among veterans and minorities.
· Encourage the formation of unions
· Encourage collective bargaining schemes
Economically and Politically Regenerate Communities
· Invest in local community businesses and counteract the effects of gentrification
· Support rent controls and community restoration and reform
